Stretch Your Budget with Gently Used Baby Clothes!
When you are expecting your first baby, you probably won’t think about the cost of providing for your child’s needs overly much, but sooner or later, you will start to notice just how expensive baby’s can be, especially if you have more than one. Children outgrow shoes and clothing at an often phenomenal rate, which means that you will be doing a lot of shopping in the years to come, which will really start to add up. You may even start to notice that your children aren’t even wearing their clothes long enough to wear them out, and many of them may still look brand new, which is one reason why so many parents are tuning into the idea of used baby clothes. If you have more than one child of the same gender, odds are you will be able to share clothes, which will save you a lot of money in the future. If you aren’t lucky enough to do this, you can still save money by shopping for used clothing, rather than the many retail stores that you most likely frequent.
With older children, who may be harder on their clothes, this may not be an option, but in some instances, you can still find great used clothing for them. You may have friends or relatives who have children that are more than willing to pass their clothes along, or you could always check out rummage sales, yard sales, and your local Goodwill and thrift stores as well. The only problem is that sooner or later your children will start to complain about this, so you may have some battles to face if you primarily obtain their clothes in this method.
Infants rarely wear their clothing long enough to do any real damage to it, other than maybe a random stain here and there. That being said, it is possible to find baby clothes that look brand new for your infant, without having to pay retail prices, and this is how many families save money on the cost of child-rearing.
Don’t make the same mistake that I made. Make certain that you are not going to have anymore children before you start donating and getting rid of those baby clothes and items, because if not, you will just have to purchase them all over again. Store those clothes and other baby items in your basement, attic, closet, etc., so that if you do find yourself unexpectedly expecting, you have them on hand to use again.
With today’s economy and rapidly rising costs of living, it is important to save money where you can, especially if you have a family to provide for. As a parent, you will learn to cut corners wherever possible, to make your budget stretch as far as it needs to go!
